"Brown Boots"
by Steve Tracy
Brown boots of cement worker? These boots were sitting on the curb in
front of my studio. The sidewalk mason was putting in a fresh walkway. On
his hands and knees, smoothing out the fresh cement. Both toes are worn
out, so I asked him if these were his boots and he said no. I grabbed
them as I said out loud, I'm going to paint them. He looked at me like,
"boy , are you nuts!" Well who cares, I can be nuts, I'm an artist. The
holes in the toes tell many stories or like the holes in a heart.
