These wonderful fish were caught at a fantastic private ranch on the Mendocino coast. We drove there to do art, and dined on abalone, some Chinese duck and fish from the waters of a nearby lake. This bowl was set on the tile floor in front of the salted window, just a spray from the surf, the filtered marine light illuminating the still life.

We had a most wonderful feast, with white wine, caviar on new potatoes along with the quietness of a primeval coast. We didn't want to go home, not from here.
